The Self and Our Statuses

Q For this discussion, please list and describe any roles or statuses that you occupy that you are comfortable discussing. This can include, but is not limited to, your ascribed, achieved, and master statuses. Do you experience any role strain or role conflict? For example, as is evident by your participation in this class, you are a student. Would you consider this your master status? What are some ways in which your role as a student conflict with other roles you may have, such as an employee or family member? Finally, what do you believe are some techniques for dealing with our multitude of statuses that we occupy? What can we do if we feel strained in our roles or if they are conflicting with others? Again, share as much as you are comfortable with while still being respectful of your classmates. If you have a personal issue with responding to this discussion board, please contact me.

In my life I play many roles. I go to school full time, I work full time, I have a fiancé, we have fur babies, and I am the oldest of 4. Therefore all of these intercept in negative ways, but they also intersect in positive ways as well. My master role would be being a mom/wife. This is something that I have mimicked my whole life having younger siblings. Therefore it has become something I am very good at and something that I love to do. I love caring for others and having someone and babies to call mine. My biggest conflict would be school. Trying to work full time and live an adult life already takes up a lot of time out of the day.
